Sorting and demolition grapples

Demolition and sorting grapples for excavators

Idrobenne's DG series demolition and sorting grabs are excavator-mounted gripping devices designed to demolish building structures and sort the resulting materials. Demolition and sorting grapples consist of two synchronized arms, operated by a hydraulic cylinder with a check valve. The tips of the jaws, equipped with bolted, reversible wear-resistant blades, touch at the end of the closing phase, allowing for a very precise and firm grip on objects. Thanks to their sturdy, high-strength steel jaws, the demolition and sorting grab can crush concrete, separate reinforcing steel from inert material, and sort various types of debris. Demolition and sorting grapples are useful on controlled demolition sites, where recovering and sorting materials for recycling is essential. Hydraulic rotation and high closing force ensure the sorting grab's operational precision and versatility, reducing work times and maximizing demolition cycle efficiency. Excavator sorting and demolition grabs are easy to use and versatile, becoming an increasingly popular hydraulic gripping attachment, even in landfills and recycling plants. The Idrobenne demolition grab, built entirely in Italy, boasts exceptional structural strength and enormous closing force. The sorting and demolition grapples are available in various models, suitable for mini-excavators weighing as little as 1.5 tons and excavators weighing up to 30 tons.

The rigid mounting on quick couplers for excavators

Unlike orange peel grapples, clamshell buckets and log grapples, which must be mounted on an hydraulic machine via a cardan suspension link (the so-called “pendulum mounting”, that allows the oscillation in the longitudinal and transverse direction), sorting and demolition grabs can be mounted by a rigid connection, which allows faster and more precise movements. The sorting grapple operates as an extension of the excavator arm and ensures a great accuracy. On demand, Idrobenne can make or supply the adapters for the most common quick couplers like Caterpillar, Verachtert, Geith, Arden Equipment, Trevi, Vtn, Cangini, Morin, Lehnhoff and Volvo (nordic standard).

Sorting and demolition grapples made in Italy

Every demolition and sorting grapple in the Idrobenne range is manufactured entirely in-house at our production facility in Brescia, Italy. This is the foundation of our quality guarantee.
The structural components of our sorting and demolition grapples are fabricated from high-strength steel, ensuring maximum resistance under the most demanding site conditions. All parts in direct contact with material are made from HB400 wear-resistant steel, engineered for exceptional durability and extended service life. Reversible, bolt-on counter-blades are included as standard on every model — a cost-effective solution that reduces downtime and simplifies maintenance on the job site. Each hydraulic demolition grapple comes factory-fitted with a continuous hydraulic rotator as standard equipment. Idrobenne continuous hydraulic rotators are synonymous with superior quality, structural strength, and long-term reliability. The DG series demolition and sorting grapple range is engineered for maximum versatility in the field. The design concept balances structural rigidity with minimal weight, making the DG series the ideal attachment for a wide range of demolition and recycling applications. The DG200 and DG250 sorting and demolition grapples — designed for excavators in the 18 to 30-tonne class — feature the reinforced QUADRA-BOX frame. This rigid steel structure incorporates oversized pivot pins for the jaw hinge system, delivering outstanding load resistance and operational precision. The Idrobenne hydraulic demolition grapple is defined by a clean, functional design philosophy: straightforward engineering that minimizes complexity, simplifies routine maintenance, and maximizes the working life of the attachment. The entire Idrobenne manufacturing process is developed and maintained in full compliance with ISO 9001 quality management certification.

Hydraulic grabs for selection, demolition and construction

Hydraulic sorting and demolition grabs made by Idrobenne are available in three versions: SORTING, DEMOLITION, and UNIVERSAL. The SORTING version features perforated jaws and is the most common for material sorting. Lightweight and versatile, it is the traditional version for material sorting. The perforated base ensures visibility and reduces weight. The DEMOLITION version comes with metal-ribbed jaws. These metal ribs on the teeth of the demolition grabs give the jaws high structural strength. Demolition grabs with metal ribs also offer excellent visibility to the operator. The UNIVERSAL version of the demolition sorting grabs features closed-bottom jaws with a sawtooth profile and ESCO-type digging teeth. All these differences are designed to make the sorting grab perfectly suited for creating environmental architecture such as terracing, positioning stones, and moving boulders. When building dry stone walls, the sawtooth teeth and digging teeth provide a firm grip and great precision when placing stones, while the closed bottom of the jaws can act as a clamshell bucket, allowing the operator to apply a layer of soil between rows of stones. Thus, the UNIVERSAL sorting grab combines the features of a clamshell bucket with the precision of a demolition and sorting grab. These attachments are mounted on Eurocomach and Menzi Muck spider-type crawler excavators.

Rental of sorting and demolition grapples

Idrobenne demolition grapples are very robust and can equip most of the construction equipment for rental, such as excavators, telehandlers and wheeled excavators. Given the quality of materials and the reliability of the design, it is not difficult to find a used demolition grab. In particular, the company based in Isorella (Brescia) can offer pre-owned grabs for mini excavator, the most of them overhauled, with guarantee. The price of second-hand demolition grab can be really competitive. Looking for a used grapple could be a good deal. Idrobenne has a repair shop and, most important of all, has ready on stock spare parts for every hydraulic equipment. Idrobenne’s demolition grapples for mini-excavators have low prices; do not hesitate to ask for a demo video. Last but not least, the Company can build adapters for the most common hydraulic quick couplers. Ask our after-sale service.
